Profile

Dr Jon Godwin is Senior Research Fellow in Medical Statistics at Glasgow Caledonian University’s School of Nursing, Midwifery and Community Health, Division of Women and Child Health. He has recently migrated from the University of Oxford’s Clinical Trial Service and Epidemiological Studies Unit, where he has worked mainly on international overviews of randomised clinical trials in various areas with Richard Peto and colleagues, using innovative statistical methods, since the inception of the Early Breast Cancer Trialists’ Collaboration in 1985. This work has resulted in measurable positive impacts upon practice worldwide. Other subjects include the epidemiology of smoking (Richard Doll). He has a previous background in astrophysics, mathematics and electronics.
In addition to maintaining his Oxford work, he is now participating in numerous projects with colleagues at Glasgow Caledonian University and other universities and research centres in Scotland and elsewhere. He is also a member of HealthQWest and the new Joanna Briggs Collaborating Centre
