Profile

Maggie Lawrence is a Research Fellow in the Caledonian Nursing & Midwifery Research Centre. She has worked on a variety of projects including an investigation of the stressors faced by the carers of adults post-stroke, and of the impact of Parkinson’s disease on employment.

In 2003 she secured a PhD studentship, sponsored by the Chief Scientist Office, on the topic of patient-centred care for young adults who have had a stroke and their families. Through this study, she gained experience of involving service users in the research process, an aspect of research that she is keen to build on.

Her current research interests include the role of lifestyle factors in the secondary prevention of stroke and the impact of nocturia on the lives of older adults.

She is also interested the development of qualitative and systematic review research methods.
