Dr Chris Darbyshire presently holds a Post Doctoral Scholarship in the Caledonian Nursing & Midwifery Research Centre. He is the Subject Leader in Learning Disability Nursing in the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Community Health. Chris leads the undergraduate learning disability nursing Diploma/Degree and is developing an on-line £40,000 NES-funded Continual Professional Development course in Learning Disabilities in partnership with Napier University.

Chris’s PhD explored power relations between students and lecturers in nurse education using the work of Michel Foucault. His research interests are in research with people with learning disabilities and carers, qualitative approaches including discourse analysis and post modernism.
