Profile

Debbie is a Professor of Gerontological Nursing and is the Director of the Scottish Centre for Evidenced Based Care of Older People. She gained a first class BSc (Hons) in Nursing Studies from South Bank Polytechnic/Guys Hospital in 1983, an MSc in Nursing in 1988 from Kings College, University of London and a PhD in 1995 from Glasgow Caledonian University. She has over twenty years experience of working with older people and their families in a variety of clinical and academic roles.

Her research interests include development of best nursing practices with older people, practice development, communities of practice, innovations in practitioner learning, age related hearing disability, smoking cessation and supporting family carers of people with dementia.
