Our research
We have adopted a programmatic approach to our research that values the contribution of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Our research programmes focus on lifestyle behaviours, such as tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drug use, and on conditions known to be associated with health inequalities and unhealthy lifestyle, such as stroke and cardiac disease.
We have particular expertise in health promotion and community engagement, and our work is characterised by user involvement and partnership approaches.
The Research Team
The interdisciplinary research team includes full and part time researchers, colleagues seconded from clinical practice in the NHS, social scientists, and post-graduate students. We collaborate with researchers in other universities in the United Kingdom and have links with colleagues in Sweden, Germany, Canada, Australia, India, South America and South Africa.
